Inmate Text App

Inmate texting apps are a great way to stay in contact with a family member or friend who is currently imprisoned. These apps are designed to be in compliance with prison rules and allow family and friends to send messages, photos videos, eCards, video calls and money to their prison trust account. In addition to federl inmate texting these messaging apps, there are also several federal inmate applications that provide additional services like video visits and phone calls.

The JPay application, for example, enables family and friends to easily transfer money to an inmate's trust account, as well as images, emails, eCards and video grams. They can also design personal postcards using their own photos. It's a safer and more secure alternative to regular mail.

Another popular texting application for prisoners is GettingOut. It offers "simple reliable, efficient communication" between inmates and their loved family members. The app, available in select correctional facilities, allows inmates to upload photos and text their family members and friends using their tablets. Inmates pay $0.25 per message and their loved ones pay cost of accessing them (but they are not explicit images). The GettingOut app can be used to upload a photo to Facebook or Foursquare and check-in to Foursquare and add the option of a YouTube video.
